Paths to Resilience: Keeping Goals & Appreciating Connections

One of my goals for 2017 was to work with a fitness trainer. I was inspired to try this after my friend Sherrill Miller arrived at a function looking so splendid.  She  attributed much of how she was looking and feeling to time spent with her fitness trainer.

So, I have been spending time with Jan Johnson at Grand Bahamas Fitness and I love it!  Now it helps that Jan gets me, that she is respectful and knowledgeable and that we laugh.

There were some things I didn’t know about Jan.  When I asked her for some info about her for this blog, as well as a photo,  I  discovered that she is a fitness trainer and a body-building champion. As she said in her note to me:

I am an International Bodybuilding & Fitness Competitor. I have had a lot of experience in the fitness industry. I have competed while representing the Bahamas in numerous bodybuilding and fitness shows around the world. I am currently the Asst. Coach for the Bahamas Bodybuilding and Fitness National Team. I can honestly say that I enjoy helping others achieve their fitness goals.

Jan also has an interest in helping pre-adolescent and adolescent girls live healthy lives and make good decisions.  She’s looking at more ways of supporting young women in the future and I look forward to our ongoing conversations about this.

Making progress towards goals and connecting with others is life giving and for me, a path to resilience.

More on Sherrill Miller: One of Sherrill’s gifts is her inspirational talk on the topic of The Gift of Change. In a multi-media presentation she weaves story and music with magical images created by Courtney Milne.   Her sessions are always exquisite and touching.   You can catch her next presentation Gift of Change in Victoria, BC on February 11, 2017.
